Sri Syama Sastri's Janma Nakshetra.


A Music homage was organised at Sri Bangaru Kamakshi Amman 
Temple, Thanjavur in connection with Sri Syama Sastri's Janma 
Nakshetra. The day was marked by the rendering of his compositions by young musicians of Thanjavur. 

 The programme was organised by Thillaisthanam Marabu 
Foundation. Syama sastri, one of the Carnatic Musical Trinity and a 
great Vaggayakara was born on Krithika Nakshatra of Chaithra Month. 

He belongs to the family which has the pooja rights of Bangaru 
Kamakshi Amman, traditionally. Being a Devi Upasaka, his compositions are of high order. The compositions are brimming with Bakthi, Raga bhava and Sahitya bhava. Most of the compositions were the outpour of his emotion in front of Sri Kamakshi of this Temple.Hence this function, said Dr.Rama.Kausalya Managing Trustee of Marabu Foundation.
